The Boston Red Sox’s owner, John Henry, was nowhere to be found at longtime Red Sox radio commentator Joe Castiglione’s retirement ceremony. Castiglione is having a final game ceremony since he has been calling games for the team for over 40 years.
Fans were surprised Henry didn’t show up, since Castiglione has been commentating for the Sox the whole time Henry has owned them.
John Henry not being in attendance for Joe Castiglione’s final game ceremony is insane.

He’s owned the team for 22 years, and Castig has been at the mic for all of them.
This is another thing Sox fans are finding annoying about Henry and the Fenway Sports Group, as tensions between the fanbase and ownership have been rising since 2021.
Most recently, Henry asked members of his front office and scouts to take pay cuts in order to stay with the team. Fans were appalled by this, and pointed out this is another time that Henry is just trying to make more money for himself without helping the team.
The biggest problem fans have with Henry is his spending habits. Over the past three years, he has tried to just get by, buying players past their prime and thinking it was enough. It hasn’t been, since the Sox have tied their longest playoff drought in 30 years.
However, both the Sox CBO Craig Breslow and skipper Alex Cora believe Henry will give the greenlight to spend lots of money, so only the offseason will tell.
