A lot of things have changed around the Boston Red Sox in recent seasons, and even more will change in 2025, as longtime Red Sox radio broadcaster Joe Castiglione announced during Sunday's series finale against the New York Yankees that the 2024 MLB season will be his last.
Castiglione, 77, joined the Red Sox broadcast team in 1983 after stints with the Milwaukee Brewers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Indians. He was with the team for four World Series wins in 2004, 2007, 2013 and 2018, and for his incredible work, Castiglione received the Ford C. Frick Award from the National Baseball Hall of Fame this season.
“After 42 seasons with the Red Sox and more than 6,500 games, I have decided it’s time to retire from a regular broadcast schedule,” Castiglione said in a statement through the team.
Castiglione also joined Boston's television broadcast on NESN to speak to the fans.

42 seasons in the booth. 2024 Ford C. Frick Award winner. The soundtrack of Red Sox fans for almost half a century.
Hope we get to hear him fill in here and there... because he still has his fastball. pic.twitter.com/kxh0RXkcdE
Boston's radio booth has featured a number of other voices, including Will Flemming and Lou Merloni, but it will certainly miss Castiglione.
