Red Sox manager Alex Cora hints at possible extension for star outfielder image

Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora was getting a postgame interview after the Sox’s 6-3 win against the Toronto Blue Jays, where one of his star outfielders, Jarren Duran also made MLB history.

Duran was the first player ever to record at least 10 triples, 20 homers, 30 stolen bases, and 40 doubles in a season. When Cora was asked about it, he responded saying “He’s gonna make a lot of money.”

This probably means the Sox will offer Duran a long-term extension, if they know what they’re doing. Duran is currently on a measly one-year, $760,000 dollar deal. For someone who is having a breakout season, averaging .294, with the stats listed above, and an OBP of .354 and OPS of .882, he definitely deserves an eight-figure contract.

If the Sox can lock him down, it will give them a proven star outfielder, and they can work in Ceddanne Rafaela back into the outfield as well as Wilyer Abreu, and they have Roman Anthony coming up the pipeline and is almost ready to make his debut. This would make the Sox’s front office be able to focus on other things and not worry about the outfield.

Durran will be showcasing his skills once again tonight against the Blue Jays at 7:10pm EST.
