The Boston Red Sox lose to the New York Yankees 5-2, and lose the series 3-1. The team underperformed both on offense and defense.
Kutter Crawford was on the bump today for the Sox, and it just wasn’t his day. He went four and a third innings, struck out seven, but gave up four runs. The relievers did adequate, giving up one unearned run in the seventh.
The offense was slow to start today, which is the primary reason for the loss. They only scored two runs in the fourth off a two-run homer by Tyler O’Neill, who has been one of the few lights in the darkness for the Sox offense.
The Red Sox head to Tampa Bay on Tuesday to face the Rays at 7:10pm EST.
