Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd went on his show The Herd with Colin Cowherd and said that the Boston Red Sox have the two worst trades in MLB history. The trades were trading Babe Ruth to the Yankees, and trading Mookie Betts to the Dodgers.
"The two worst trades in MLB history belong to the Red Sox," said Cowherd. "Mookie Betts, in his prime, they [Red Sox] decided we're gonna move him to the Dodgers. You're gonna need a search party to find the players they traded for him, because only one guy they got for Mookie Betts still remains with the Red Sox."
This is true, because out of Connor Wong, Alex Verdugo, and Jeter Downs, all players they acquired in the trade, only Wong remains. While he is really good, he is nowhere near as talented as Betts.
Betts, who has been out with a broken hand for months, just had a two-run homer in his first game back.

The Sox’s latest blockbuster trade is looking like a bust as well, as they traded pitcher Chris Sale who is leading the NL Cy Young race for the Braves, and the guy the Sox got for him, Vaughn Grissom, has barely played 20 games due to injury and has stunk in them. Like 50 points under the Mendoza line, horrible.
Hopefully, the Sox’s farm will save the day for the future, and they can make the playoffs this season.
"The two worst trades in major league baseball history both belong to the Red Sox. They gave up Babe Ruth and they gave up Mookie Betts."
