The Boston Red Sox’s new bullpen pitchers are not living up to the expectations set for them. The new pitchers, Lucas Sims and Luis Garcia, have been getting torn up and are blowing games. The pair of relievers have given up 13 earned runs in just 10.2 innings pitched.

On their former teams, the two setup relievers were studs. For the LA Angels, Garcia had only given up two runs in the six weeks before the deadline. For Sims, he had only given up six runs in the two months before the deadline.

Maybe the new help just needs a bit more time to settle in, but they can’t take too long, as every day that passes before they are back to their pre-deadline selves, is a day further the Sox are from getting in the Wildcard Race.

Here’s hoping the bullpen lives up to expectations and settles in in the next series against the Texas Rangers at Fenway starting tomorrow at 7:10pm EST.
