The beauty of the NFL can be found in its only consistency: change. The New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs may be the modern exceptions to this. But for the most part, the NFL is in a constant state of flux. Rosters turn over, the "meta" on offense and defense changes, and new divisional champions are crowned each year.

The most significant change arguably revolves around how NFL franchises value each position. In recent years, the contracts handed out in free agency indicate that defensive tackles and wide receivers are valuable in the eyes of front offices. Quarterback contracts continue to grow, but the desirable traits that franchises find in quarterbacks have changed rapidly.

Quarterbacks who make contributions with their legs have completely revolutionized the fantasy landscape. Quarterbacks who can rush for 30 yards per game while maintaining goal line presence are by far the most valuable options in fantasy football.

It shouldn't come as a shock that the top of our rankings are feature mobile quarterbacks. As long as they continue to be used as battering rams at the goal line, Jalen Hurts and Josh Allen will be perennial candidates for the QB1 title.

While dual-threat quarterbacks are all the rage, pocket passers still have their place among the QB1 ranks. Patrick Mahomes falls somewhere in the grey area of the spectrum, but he finished as the QB1 just two years ago.

CJ Stroud is a pure pocket passer who is being highly drafted this year. He'll likely need 4,500 yards and 35+ touchdowns to finish as a top-5 QB, but this is a realistic outcome for Stroud given his arsenal of weapons.

Once Jayden Daniels is off the board, the rushing upside is limited, and drafters will be relegated to primarily pocket passers. In this range, Matthew Stafford, Geno Smith, and Will Levis are some of our favorite options to jump into the "starter-worthy" tier.

These quarterback rankings are based on scoring systems that award four points per TD thrown and six points per rushing TD.
