India’s Abhishek Sharma has been the talk of the town following his blistering century against Zimbabwe in the second T20I of the five-match series.

Abhishek became the third-fastest Indian to score a T20I century, achieving the feat in just 46 balls. He also became the fourth youngest Indian to score a T20I century.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad opener set the stage on fire in the 2024 IPL season, opening the batting for the runners-up alongside Australia’s Travis Head. Head and Abhishek have changed the dynamics of batting in T20s, going after the bowlers right from the start, and helping SRH put up massive totals of over 250 runs in multiple matches. 

Abhishek has been the recipient of numerous praises for his performances in the IPL and his most recent century against the Chevrons. One of the icons who has congratulated Abhishek for his hard work and success is Yuvraj Singh. The former Indian all-rounder has had nothing but words of praise for the 23-year-old.

Yuvraj has served as Abhishek’s mentor in the past, and recently shared a two-minute video on X, showcasing Abhishek’s grit and determination that he has put in to finally shine in the revered blue outfit of the Indian cricket team. 

Yuvraj congratulated the youngster for his brilliant century, stating that there are many more still to come. 

In a recent video shared by BCCI on X, Abhishek also thanked his mentor for believing and helping him to reach where he is now. Abhishek extensively thanked the former Indian all-rounder for mentoring him every step of the way in his path. 

That was again, a very special moment. I talked to him yesterday. I don’t know why, but he was very happy when I got out on zero. He was like, that's a good start. But, he must be very proud of me today as well, just like my family. So, I’m really happy. It’s all because of him. Two-three years he has been working really hard on me and everything. 

Abhishek and India will now be up against Zimbabwe for the third T20I of the ongoing five-match series. The series is currently tied at 1-1 after Zimbabwe’s shock win in the first T20I and India’s strong reply in the second.
