The second T20I clash of the five-match series between the newly crowned World T20 champions India and ZImbabwe saw the Men in Blue making a strong comeback following a shocking loss in their opening game of the series. 

Shubhman Gill’s team steam-rolled over the Chevrons in the first innings with the bat and later on with the ball as they went on to seal a 100-run victory in Harare.

The young Sunrisers Hyderabad opener, Abhishek Sharma proved to be the star of the game, thanks to his blistering 46-ball century. Abhishek built an important partnership alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad as India went on to post a mammoth total of 234/2 in 20 overs.

In reply, Zimbabwe succumbed to just 134 runs with both pacers Avesh Khan and Mukesh Kumar picking up three wickets each.

Third-fastest century by an Indian

With his blazing knock of 100 in just 46 balls, Abhishek Sharma became the player to score the third-fastest century in T20Is for India. The only ones above him on the list are Rohit Sharma (35 balls) and Suryakumar Yadav (45 balls).  

Fourth youngest to score a T20I ton

Abhishek was spitting fire in the second T20I against Zimbabwe as he also joined an elite list of the youngest Indians in the T20I century. The young opener became the fourth youngest player after Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suresh Raina and Shubhman Gill to achieve the feat.

Highest T20I total against the Chevrons 

The batting efforts of Abhishek Sharma, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rinku Singh helped the Men in Blue to reach a massive total of 234 runs in 20 overs. This is the highest score by India or any other team against Zimbabwe in T20Is. 

Highest T20I total in Harare 

India’s total of 234/2 against Zimbabwe isn’t just the highest total against them, but also the highest-ever total at the Harare Sports Club. The record was previously held by Australia when they scored 229 runs back in 2018.
