Updated Fantasy Football QB Auction Values 2024: Dollar projections, rankings for quarterbacks image

Navigating the quarterback market is difficult regardless of the draft format. In an auction draft, you may want to spend up to grab an elite option. But overpaying for "your guy" could derail the rest of your draft by skewing your budget.

Grabbing one of the elite quarterbacks is always tempting. Spending $30-40 on Jalen Hurts or Josh Allen puts a dent in the budget, but it almost certainly locks you in for a top-10 performance week in and week out. Then again, spending next to nothing on someone like Matthew Stafford or Geno Smith, both of whom have top-5 finishes in recent years, is intriguing as well.

DOMINATE YOUR DRAFT: 2024 Fantasy Football Cheat Sheet

Both strategies have their merit. Paying up to grab Allen has worked wonders in recent years. Not only has he been a top-2 QB in four straight years, but he has delivered a top-10 fantasy season (among quarterbacks) of all time in four consecutive seasons. However, someone like Brock Purdy could be scooped up for a dollar or two last season, and he ultimately finished as the QB6. There are paths to both strategies paying off as long as you properly allocate your budget.

The key is to not get too wrapped up in one particular strategy or player. The prices provided here are merely projections. Players are rarely selected for their projected price due to a variety of factors. Some quarterbacks will start bidding wars while others will not see bids from more than one or two managers.

The key is to remain adaptable and not overpay to a large degree. It's okay to put in large bids for players who you feel strongly about, but it's typically advisable to stay out of the most aggressive bidding wars. At some point, the price for every player becomes too high, regardless of how high you believe their ceiling is.

At the end of the day, consulting a list of projected price points is the best way to get an idea of how aggressive you will have to be with certain quarterbacks. These projections also help to formulate a plan for your auction budget.
