Kevin Walters’ tenure as Brisbane head coach came to an abrupt end last month following the club’s disastrous campaign.
The Broncos were heavily fancied to once again challenge Penrith for the premiership after going so close a year prior, yet that grand final heartbreak loomed large over proceedings at Red Hill.
A mixture of poor form, Origin commitments and a mounting injury toll resulted in Brisbane slumping to 12th spot on the ladder.
And following the disastrous results, Walters was axed with Michael Maguire brought in immediately to try and turn around their fortunes.

Corey Parker defends Brisbane's treatment of Kevin Walters
Corey Parker admitted that while the decision to move on from Walters was a tough one, he felt it was the correct call.
"He’s a club legend but he has been at the club for four years," Parker said while appearing on SEN’s Breakfast with Pat & Heals.
"I find it hard to see that he’s been disrespected. The club made a business decision to move forward."
Reports have since emerged that the playing group had been left dissatisfied with the direction the club was being taken in under Walters.
The 56-year-old was still contracted at the club until the end of 2026, but an internal review exposed a number of alleged faults in the standards and coaching processes at Red Hill.

"By all reports, they wanted to keep Kevin on," Parker said.
"But once the review came out, it was untenable, and they were unable to keep him on.
"The evidence provided from the players and the staff was heavily weighing against him which is why they made the call."
The Broncos are currently locked in negotiations with Reece Walsh as they attempt to tie down the star fullback to a long-term contract.
Although Selwyn Cobbo and Kotoni Staggs’ futures are uncertain with salary cap pressure mounting on the club with Payne Haas, Patrick Carrigan and Ezra Mam already on lucrative deals.
