WWE RAW Results (07/01/24): Balor confronts Priest, Liv Morgan costs Dom, McIntyre punches ticket image

The Wyatt Sicks (6) is taking the entire WWE Universe into the depths of its pain, for yet another week, and then there’s the relentless endeavor of Liv Morgan to dismantle the entire WWE world of Rhea Ripley continues, even during MLB games, as the folding of “Dirty” Dom Mysterio, a.k.a. “Daddy” Dom Mysterio, looms large.

Although, maybe not as large as what might be Finn Balor and J.D. McDonough defecting from their loyalty to Mami and WWE Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest — seemingly joining Morgan’s cause.

Meanwhile, Zelina Vega has long been fed up with Morgan’s seduction of Dom and the feud that began on social media has now mushroomed into a full-on war, and that will come to a head on RAW in Boston when Morgan puts her WWE Women’s Championship belt on the line against the pissed off Boricua.

2024 NXT HEATWAVE LIVE RESULTS/TRACKER HERE.

It all came to a head in Boston.

But what of Drew McIntyre and CM Punk? No Punk tonight, but a hell of a lot of McIntyre kicking some friendly ass.

It’s the RAW before MITB and it made sure you couldn’t look away for one second.

Yeets Is Watching

Jey Uso jumped the show off with a promo that stood on business. Having already earned his way into the MITB ladder match, and promising long ago he would take the briefcase, Uso took the ring in Boston to make sure every one of his opponents knew they were effectively wasting their time in showing up.

That is exactly why Chad Gable showed up at TD Garden, labeling himself a miracle for overcoming the attack from The Wyatt Sicks (6) and the fact The Alpha Academy turned their backs on him, forgetting both things were all his fault in the first place.

“Didn’t the Wyatts get you already?” Uso asked.

Yes, yes they did.

But that’s when Gable made it personal in accusing Uso of abandoning his family, the Bloodline, and that hit a chord, because Uso began comparing Gable to the dictatorship that was the reign of Roman, but he was cut short by Gable’s fist; who was himself cut short by a Superkick and nearly an Uso Splash before narrowly escaping the ring.

But he couldn’t escape what happened next…

The Wyatt Sicks 6.

The arena went dark, the fireflies came out, the ominous piano chord chimed continuously and as Gable tried to hightail it into the crowd for safety, he found himself boxed in from all directions by each member of the Sicks.

He finally found a way to slip out of the arena as Abigail the Witch delivered another package to Michael Cole — similar to the VHS she presented to him last week that featured the charged interview between Bo Dallas and Uncle Howdy.

That emotional Q&A continued with part two of the interview.

“I am the voice of the reckoning,” said Dallas.

“I am the reckoning,” said Uncle Howdy, as Dallas said the same at the same time, revealing, finally, that he and Howdy are one in the same.

The interview ended with the two mirroring each other’s comments before one disappeared while the other remained, and then vice versa, and the message was never more apparent.

“I am all of us. I set them free,” they said in unison.

There you are.

Karrion Kross vs. Xavier Woods

Result: Woods wins clean (pinfall)

Reaction: This match might’ve happened one week ago, but Kofi Kingston couldn’t help himself when taking the opportunity to face Kross away from Xavier Woods, much to the chagrin of a visibly frustrated Woods.

The angst hasn’t died down one iota between The New Day and the Final Testament, seeing as Kross has made it his mission, or at least one of his missions, to shatter TND by planting seeds of discord within the ear of Woods, and Kofi (as noted) isn’t exactly helping the matter.

And to add insult to injury, Kingston suffered a loss to Kross last week, which has to really aggravate Woods, who felt it should’ve been him in the ring anyway.

Well now it is.

Kross began the fight with a supposed show of respect, extending his hand for a gentleman’s shake but being met with a chop across the chest. Things spilled ot the outside and that led to Woods being thrown spine first into the ring column before folding onto the floor like a wet paper towel, and not a quality one like Bounty.

It looked more like Great Value.

“You still don’t wanna shake my hand?” Kross asked.

Probably not, Karrion.

Momentum was regained by Woods as they made their way back into the squared circle, and despite a quality headbutt that shook Woods for a moment, it was Kross who found himself on the losing end of this bout after his arrogance led him to stand over a downed Woods before getting rolled up into a pinfall.

The Authors of Pain couldn’t stay out of it though, tapping into attack The New Day and a Kross Hammer to the face of Kingston was chased by a brutal submission that nearly tore the arm out of the shoulder joint before an official forced him to relinquish the hold.

With that, Kross may have undermined his own mission for Woods because, if anything, that brutality likely made TND closer than they were leading into the match.

Liv’n It Up

Things are falling apart for The Judgment Day faster than the meteor heading toward Earth and the dinosaurs. Dom lied about speaking to Rhea Ripley recently and was called out on it by WWE Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest, who then scoffed at Dom’s latest promise to handle the situation — Dom then accusing Priest of “acting like my dad”.

Oh my.

Priest didn’t have a moment to address that comment before walking into TJD’s green room to find Liv Morgan jumping up and down and celebrating Carlito and Co. having a rousing game of WWE 2K24, much to the disgust of Priest and, allegedly, Dom.

Morgan promptly left after having done her designed damage and wishing Dom the best against Rey in the match to come, before Priest then chastised Balor for having Morgan around in the first place, or rather he tried to chastise him.

Balor, clearly furious from Priest’s comment to Seth “Freaking” Rollins that TJD “needs me more than I need them”, got in Priest’s face and told him the belt has changed him and that he thinks TJD isn’t on his level.

Priest didn’t exactly disagree.

The exchange ended on a more calm note, but don’t expect things to remain cool inside of the faction, because the foundation has already been shattered by Morgan when she injured Ripley and then took the title, and the current champ has been building her own skyscraper of revenge on the bones of what was once arguably the most dominant faction in the WWE.

There was more drama to come for TJD in Boston, mind you.

LOTS MORE.

*Birdman hand rub*

So ‘Freaking’ Real

Seth Rollins wanted to keep it real with Boston, acknowledging it’s a “championship city” on the heels of the Boston Celtics winning yet another NBA title in June.

But there was something a bit more pressing for Rollins to address, and that’s the fact he’s set to face off against Damian Priest at MITB to try and recover the WWE Heavyweight Championship — being the inaugural one to hold this version of the belt prior to losing it to Drew McIntyre at Wrestlemania 40 and then being sidelined for months with injury.

“When the pressure is at the highest is when I’m at my very best,” said Rollins. “... And not only am I gonna take the title from Priest, I’m gonna take Priest from The Judgment Day.”

Thus is the stipulation for this match: if Priest loses, he has to leave TJD.

Balor wanted a word with Rollins on Monday night about all of this, though. He’d interrupt Rollins’ promo not long after confronting Priest himself, noting he’s “in a bad mood because everything around here is changing” and he “blames everything” on Rollins.

And right before a match was set to go down between Rollins and Balor, one that Balor was angling for, Priest made his way to the ring to tell Balor “this is my business and nobody else is getting involved in my business”.

Shots fired … at Balor.

The match was then going to be Rollins versus Priest ahead of schedule, but Balor interrupted by attacking Rollins, who was then pulled off of Rollins by Priest — only for both to be Superkicked and Balor to become the latest victim of The Stomp.

Priest would ultimately, finally, come to Balor’s aid and deliver a South of Heaven chokeslam to end the fray, but the damage within the faction was already deepened.

And Rollins is hellbent on inadvertently joining Morgan in making sure it shatters completely.

PUMP the Breakks

Sami Zayn is tired of hearing what people thing Bron Breakker is going to do to him at MITB in the Intercontinental Title Match in Toronto on Saturday, July 6, so he grabbed a mic and wanted to talk about it.

The IC promised to put Breakker down.

The Dog didn’t appreciate that and after offering Zayn some respect for seeking him out when “everyone else in the locker room is afraid of me”, he had a promise of his own: to break Zayn down in Canada. To which he was reminded of just how many people have tried to end Zayn, unsuccessfully.

“Maybe, just maybe, you’re not as good as you think you are,” said Zayn.

If Zayn thought he would get away with that dig and not become a victim, he was wrong. Breakker appeared to be exiting the ring but changed his mind at the last moment and instead cut Zayn in two with a spear, and he should’ve left it there, but he didn’t.

The rookie tried to round the ring and take Zayn out for good with a spear but the champ leaped over it and Breakker went right into the steel stairs. Thrown back into the ring afterwards, a Helluva Kick was the plan but another spear turned Zayn into lunch meat.

He’d then stand over his carcass holding up the IC belt.

So much for that respect he was offering.

WWE Women’s Championship

Liv Morgan (c) vs. Zelina Vega

Result: Morgan wins clean (pinfall)

Reaction: From throwing posts at each other to throwing hands, Vega’s disgust over Morgan’s actions toward Dom boiled over a few weeks ago when she attacked the WWE Women’s Champion during one of her recent attempts to seduce Ripley’s boy toy.

It’s been on and popping ever since between the two, and just a matter of time before a fight was officially sanctioned by general manager Adam Pearce.

Zelina, a former (and first-ever) Queen of the Ring, continues to pursue her first WWE championship.

It did feel as if this could possibly spill into a PLE, like maybe Money in the Bank, but not so much. Instead, it’s a headliner for RAW before MITB — WWE needing to keep eyes on the program before all manner of feces hits the proverbial fan on Saturday in Toronto.

But considering the warring factions also entangled in this beef, you didn’t think it would be a simple and straightforward title match, did you?

Silly rabbit.

Trix are for kids.

Morgan began the bout playfully torturing Vega, laughing most of the time. The smiles came to a stop when Vega started to fight back but no sooner than she did was there Dom walking down the ramp, to the great initial delight of Morgan — who smiled and waved at him lovingly.

But while he was applauding Vega’s efforts after interrupting Morgan’s love stare with a toss through the ropes and to the mat, behind him appeared his father Rey, and suddenly there was more going on outside of the ring than inside of it.

Dom was cheering on Vega, but Rey couldn’t trust that when considering Dom “accidentally” helped Morgan get and retain the title from Becky Lynch. It also served as a lovely bit of suspense ahead of the Jerry Springer episode … er … um … father-son match later in the evening.

Morgan took it all to the next level by using the Three Amigos on Vega and then the shoulder shake a la the late, great Eddie Guerrero, and that could be viewed as a rub to the elder Mysterio and a love tap to the younger one.

It’s chess. It ain’t checkers.

Morgan took her eye off of the ball when she delivered a sliding kick to Rey after he shoved Dom though, and a 619 by Vega nearly ended her … that was until Morgan kicked out and Dom then slid a chair into the ring. Vega picked it up and went across Dom’s head with it — sending Morgan into a rage that ended Vega swiftly thereafter.

She then dedicated the win to Dom after walking with him up the ramp.

The Revenge Tour is THRIVING.

Money In the Bank Qualifier (Women’s)

Zoey Stark vs. Dakota Kai vs. Ivy Nile

Result: Stark wins clean (pinfall)

Reaction: Stark is trying to achieve at this year’s MITB event what her teammate Shayna Baszler could not, and that’s to win her qualifier and advance to the ladder match.

She entered this match as the obvious favorite against Kai and Nile, due to the fact the latter two haven’t exactly seen any sort of actual push outside of the one their respective faction might enjoy, but Chelsea Green serves as another reminder that, as of late, it’s not about the matchup.

It’s about who can finesse the fight in their favor — something the conniving Kai isn’t a stranger to. That said, it’s also not exactly as if Stark can outright overpower Nile in any way.

And off they went.

Nile had a strong showing, literally, evidenced by a double German suplex midway through the match that left both Stark and Kai trying to remember what day of the week it was. It really did feel more like a match controlled by the strength of Stark and Nile than the wily ways of Kai, at least for the majority of the fight.

That was until Kairi Sane distracted Nile, then attacked themselves in a bout of vengeance from the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn, and Kai should’ve looked behind her.

That’s because that’s where Stark was waiting to finish her off, and did.

The complete field of combatants for this ladder match is now as follows:
Iyo Sky vs. Chelsea Green vs. Lyra Valkyria vs. Tiffany Stratton vs. Naomi vs. Zoey Stark

Rey Mysterio vs. Dominik Mysterio

Result: Rey Mysterio wins “clean” (pinfall)

Reaction: You know what’s strange? That it’s taken this long for Rey and Dominik to have another singles match. Granted, the younger Mysterio was just recently cleared medically to return to action but, even before the injury,

it was clear their storyline of “deadbeat dad” versus “disgruntled and disrespectful son” had become a backburner item to some of the other storylines between the warring factions of LWO and The Judgment Day.

But thanks to Liv Morgan by way of last week’s episode of RAW and, hell, this very episode itself, they’re back at each other’s throats with unabashed fury.

Dom got a couple of hits in early and, on brand, he began wasting time taunting his father and the crowd instead of keeping the foot to the pedal and that pedal to the floor. Rey refused to drop the hammer early on his kid though, and that allowed the mustached marauder a chance to continue his taunts while also taking control of the match.

Eventually, that would change in a big way.

Liv Morgan then ran out to show support for her crush, giving Dom a chance to turn the fight back in his favor, and then came Rey getting hit with the Three Amigos — the same things Zelina Vega was victim of at the hands of Morgan, who pulled Dom out of the ring to save him from the 619 finisher.

It didn’t save him from a kick to the back of the head that led to him straddling Morgan, much like she did weeks back when Morgan was the recipient of a kick to the back of the head from Vega (none of this is a coincidence in the storylines, by the way).

Vega, speaking of, returned to take out Morgan ringside and, in the process, caused Dom to slip on the top turnbuckle and onto his family jewels, as his literal family frog splashed him into a pinfall.

Morgan just cost Dom a win against his dad, and that’s the first very real backfire to her plan. This isn’t gonna help Dom fold any faster, that’s for sure.

Money in the Bank Qualifier (Men’s)

Sheamus vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Ilja Dragunov

Result: McIntyre wins clean (pinfall)

Reaction: Longtime friends are Sheamus and McIntyre, and there was a bit of supposed foreshadowing recently in the locker room when the latter told the former he’d leave Clash at the Castle in Scotland with the WWE Heavyweight Championship — Sheamus replying by saying he’d take home the MITB briefcase and be ready to challenge his old friend for the belt.

McIntyre failed to uphold his half of that deal thanks to the interference of CM Punk, and now stands in the way of Sheamus getting a shot at the briefcase at all, equipped with the very bracelet he stole from Punk after bloodying him in the Windy City.

Dragunov’s appearance in this match is fortuitous for the electric rookie but not for Ludwig Kaiser, who was originally planned for this match before being injured following his match with Bron Breakker last week. It halts a strong solo push for Kaiser at the moment, but gives Dragunov a chance to really take his arc to the next level.

Dragunov was disrespected early by McIntyre during his argument with Sheamus but a blow to the head of Drew let him know to never do that again. That left only Dragunov and Sheamus in the ring going toe-to-toe, or rather chop for chop, and it was the rookie getting the best of the other WWE legend early.

Sheamus started passing out an ass whooping thereafter, including on McIntyre after the Scottish warrior reappeared in the fray. The action made its way to the barrier where Sheamus turned things up with WWE fans after delivering 10 Beats of the Bodhran to McIntyre to try and cave in a pectoral muscle or two.

Back in the ring not long after, it was the three-man free-for-all that we all came to see.

Dragunov was nothing short of impressive in this match, at one point decimating both legends, in alternating fashion, before nearly pinning McIntyre. Nearly will never count though, and it all gave Sheamus time to recover and get Dragunov out of the picture, at least for the moment, as he set his sights on his old friend McIntyre.

What a banger this turned out to be, to the surprise of absolutely no one.

A three-man suplex off of the top turnbuckle serves as jaw-dropping evidence.

“This is awesome!” chanted the crowd.

They weren’t wrong.

By the time Dragunov counted the Claymore with a Torpedo Moscow, you knew you were witnessing a true main event match. All three men went flat-out feral in this fight. In the end, it was McIntyre pinning Sheamus clean as Dragunov laid barely conscious outside of the ring; and that means he is now one huge step closer at having a chance to, again, regain the championship belt.

For now, it’s the bracelet that he still possesses that is powering him up.

The ladder match on the men’s side of the table is now completely set:

Jey Uso vs. Carmelo Hayes vs. Andrade vs. Chad Gable vs. LA Knight vs. Drew McIntyre
