Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is reportedly close to joining Ligue 1 giants Marseille, with an imminent €13.5/14 million ($15m) transfer move set to bring a four-year stint in North London to an end.
The Denmark international proved to be a reliable presence in the Lilywhites' engine room upon his £14 million arrival from Southampton in the summer of 2020.
Hojbjerg immediately became a mainstay for Jose Mourinho, featuring in all 38 games in the 2020/21 Premier League campaign, and Antonio Conte had the same degree of faith in him.
However, the 28-year-old Dane has dropped down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou, who has has preferred Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentancur and Pape Sarr ahead of him since taking over the charge last summer.
Hojbjerg only started nine of his 36 Premier League outings for Spurs last term. He was strongly linked with a move to Serie A in January, but he snubbed interest from Juventus to continue his stay with Tottenham.

Now into the last year of his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and with midfield department stacked following the arrivals of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, Postecoglou is open to letting the Denmark international leave the club this summer rather than risk losing him for nothing at the end of the 2024/25 season.

This summer, Hojbjerg has been linked with plenty of European clubs. The 28-year-old has apparently caught the eye of AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, Fulham, Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, and Borussia Dortmund.
However, it seems that Ligue 1 heavyweights Marseille have beaten all others to the punch in signing Hojbjerg, with the midfielder already giving the thumbs up to a transfer to the Orange Velodrome after speaking with head coach Roberto De Zerbi.
