The race to sign Desire Doue is hotting up after Bayern Munich had a proposal worth over £29 million rejected for the Rennes star, as per Fabrizio Romano.

That could leave the door open for Tottenham Hotspur, alongside Chelsea and PSG, to prise the 19-year-old away from Ligue 1.

The teenage sensation graduated from the Rennes academy, and made his first-team debut in August 2022.

The Frenchman has been subject to waves of transfer speculation after impressing in Ligue 1 last season — he made 10 goal contributions in 43 domestic appearances last year.

Manchester United and Arsenal are thought to be monitoring the player but Spurs, Chelsea, Bayern and PSG are reported to be the leading candidates to land the prospect, as per L'Equipe (via Sport Witness).

Desire Doue would be a 'statement' signing for Tottenham

Tottenham did well in Ange Postecoglou's first season as manager, and the foundations are in place to become a regular Champions League outfit if they can recruit well in the summer.

Spurs do have superb talents all across their front three, but you can't help but feel they need one more youngster to come in as an understudy to their forward line.

Brennan Johnson, Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski offer different qualities on the flanks and compliment each other well, whilst Son Heung-min is a guaranteed starter up front.

However, with Bryan Gil and Manor Solomon's current status up in the air and James Maddison being injury prone, Doue would add quality, versatility youth and a proper succession plan.

Although Spurs are certainly in the race, a deal to bring Doue to the club could be a challenge, with interest from European heavyweights Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain sure to tempt the player.
