Barcelona are reported to have angered RB Leipzig with their latest transfer bid for Dani Olmo — a player who has often been linked with Liverpool.

The Spain international was one of the standout players at Euro 2024 and has been earmarked as a transfer target for Barca and new head coach Hansi Flick.

According to Sky Sports, the Catalans' latest approach for Olmo is an initial fee of €40 million ($43.4 million) with a possible further €10m ($10.9m) in bonuses. This would bring the total amount to roughly Leipzig's asking price, but it's the structure of the deal with which the Bundesliga club are said to be unhappy.

There is a suggestion that Liverpool could consider reigniting their interest in Olmo should the Barca deal fall through.

Could Liverpool go back in for Dani Olmo?

Olmo, who progressed through the Barcelona youth academy, is believed to favour a move back to Camp Nou should he decide to leave Leipzig in this transfer window.

His displays at Euro 2024 helped to make him one of Barca's priority targets, although they must balance any possible signings carefully as they also pursue a deal for Athletic Club winger Nico Williams.

He is said to have had a release clause at Leipzig that expired on July 21, but it's reported that Leipzig would still be happy to sell for a fee close to €60m/$65m rather than push for a higher sum.

Olmo has previously been linked with Liverpool. Fabrizio Romano reported on July 21 that Premier League clubs, along with Barca and Bayern Munich, had spoken to the player's representatives.
