The 2024 Paris Olympics are almost here. First, though, countries have to finalize their rosters for each sport.
That's where the trials come into play. Star athletes compete for their right to don their country's colors at perhaps the most prestigious sporting event there is.

Noah Lyles will be competing this week at this year's U.S. Olympic track and field trials at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
Lyles won a bronze medal in the men's 200m at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics but has since earned gold medals in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay at the 2023 World Athletics Championships. The last athlete to do so: Usain Bolt in 2015.
While he's pinned as the fastest man in the world, Lyles still has to earn his roster spot at trials. He'll be racing in the 100m and 200m races.

Lyles finished his Olympic trials performance Saturday night, when he set the trial record for fastest time in the 200-meter.
The star sprinter finished first in both the 100m and 200m to earn his spot in both races in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
