The Seattle Seahawks are getting bit by the injury bug a bit too much for our liking this early in the regular season. We're still waiting to hear about the condition of Leonard Williams and Byron Murphy II, who were both ruled out of Sunday's home win over the Miami Dolphins with injuries. One of the other biggest injuries this year is also to Seattle's defensive front line.
During the team's last preseason game of the year against the Cleveland Browns, outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu suffered an MCL sprain that has kept him out ever since. Nwosu sustained the injury on a cut block by Cleveland Browns three-time Pro Bowl guard Wyatt Teller. Although there's some disagreement over whether it was a dirty play or not, it certainly appeared that way to a lot of NFL fans, especially for a preseason game.
It seems like the cosmos might agree with that take, because according to a report by Mike Garafolo at NFL Network, Teller himself suffered an MCL sprain in Cleveland's increasingly-disastrous 21-15 loss on Sunday to the New York Giants. Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski apparently told reporters today that Teller's sprain could land him on the injured reserve list, which would knock him out for at least the next four games.
As for Nwosu, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald told the media last week that he's optimistic he can return for next Monday night's road game against the Detroit Lions.
