They say in the NFL every team is a two-game losing streak away from panic. The Seattle Seahawks are way past that now, having lost three in a row over the course of 10 days. Along the way, they had about 85% of their defense go down due to injuries and their two most important offensive players went from absolutely balling out just a handful of days ago to completely melting down on the sidelines.
The worst of Thursday night's loss to the San Francisco 49ers came from right tackle Stone Forsythe, but we can't write anymore about that situation without puking, so let's focus on the struggles of starting quarterback Geno Smith and star wide receiver DK Metcalf.
For Smith's part he had his worst game of the year and arguably the second-worst start since he took over for Russell Wilson back in 2022 (his worst came against the Niners in 2023). Meanwhile, Metcalf only caught three of 11 targets from Geno and proceeded to lose all of that maturity and poise he had been showcasing this season both on the field and off of it. Here's how they blew up as the Seahawks lost their sixth straight to the 49ers.

You can clearly see him say “Hey Grubb” when he first gets on the headset.
Something to keep an eye on 😳

You don't need to be a lip reader to see Metcalf's anger and disgust here with Grubb, who called a hell of a game in the loss to the Detroit Lions but was exposed both against the 49ers and the New York Giants in the last two games.

The tablet-smashing incident came following Smith's second interception of the game, which effectively killed any hope of a comeback. Head coach Mike Macdonald called it a "team INT" as DK Metcalf broke off his route, which cleared the way for an easy pick.

No subtitles are needed for this one, which clearly shows Smith yelling at his offensive teammates with 20 seconds to go and the game having been decided already.
It's hard to believe just how fast the situation has changed for this team, which entered October at 3-1, having shown how far they've come against a true contender in the Lions and looking like they had the best defense in the NFL this season.
When losing comes, dysfunction follows. Expect more of this as long as the Ls continue.
