The San Francisco 49ers certainly are busy right now.
San Francisco has been dealing with a plethora of high-impact injuries already this season, and yet it currently is in second place in the NFC West with a 2-2 record. The 49ers have high hopes for the season, but injuries have played a major hand. With all of the injuries piling up, it doesn't hurt to add some more depth throughout the organization, including the practice squad.
Because of this, the 49ers reportedly are signing Hall of Fame receiver Terrell Owens' son, Terique Owens, according to Pro Football Talk's Michael David Smith.
"Terique Owens is getting another shot with the 49ers," Smith said. "Owens, a wide receiver and the son of former 49ers wide receiver Terrell Owens is signing with the 49ers’ practice squad, his agent told reporters.
"Terique Owens spent some time with the 49ers in training camp but was waived in August after suffering a hand injury. He is now cleared to return, and the 49ers will give him another look. An undrafted rookie, Owens played college football at both Florida Atlantic and Missouri State."
Terrell Owens certainly had plenty of success as a member of the 49ers. He spent the first eight years of his career in San Francisco and made four Pro Bowls, and was named first-team All-Pro three times. If his son Terique could have even a fraction of that success as a member of the 49ers, that would be a positive.
