What will Philadelphia Eagles fans do if they lose to Green Bay?

Philadelphia Eagles fans are known for calling off work on a Monday if their team loses on a Sunday. It’s part of who they are, when they identify so much with their Birds that they treat them as part of the family.

When the Eagles lose, maybe you, the fan, could have done more, and that makes you ill.

Sick to your stomach? Skip work on Monday.

But tonight? If the Eagles lose to Green Bay in Brazil, what are the options on a Saturday? Call in sick to cancel your golf game? Miss your kids’ Saturday soccer match? Wait for the Phillies to play the Marlins Saturday afternoon so you can watch one at least Philly team in first place? Is the weekend ruined altogether?

The options are endless, and they’re all bad. And needing the weekend to digest what happened may just be inevitable regardless of the outcome.

“I would venture that literally every outcome in the Eagle-Packer game would lead to a shock,” said ESPN radio host Joe Fortenbaugh Friday afternoon. “The Eagles lose this game? My God, Chicken Little, the sky is falling. Is Nick Siranni out Week 1? Is he a hockey coach we can replace instantaneously. Or if the Eagles win, all of a sudden is Green Bay overrated?”

Wondering if Green Bay is overrated is one thing. The Eagles, after all, are a 2 or 2.5-point favorite, depending on which book is being used after opening as a 1.5-point favorite according to Vegas Insider.

But that’s never stopped Eagles fans from feeling worried, whether it was two years ago in the Super Bowl or last season when they were 10-1 but winning ugly.

Tonight’s a new night, and a new season. But, win or lose, the same old feelings may soon return.
