Jalen Hurts: Comments overblown on Philadelphia Eagles offseason changes image

Jalen Hurts’ fourth offensive coordinator in five seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles means the quarterback is used to change. He’s gone from debuting under Doug Pederson in 2020 to Shane Steichen, Brian Johnson, and now Kellen Moore under Nick Sirianni.

So when Hurts said earlier this summer that the offense was “95 percent new” it certainly raised questions about meshing with Moore, his new offensive coordinator who came from same spot with the Los Angeles Chargers and Dallas Cowboys.

But Hurts downplayed those comments in a new Andscape feature, where he said Moore and new quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier are working together with him on preparation and adapting to the new playbook.

“There’s always going to be value in hard work. And I think the more continuity you do have, the more you have to be able to evolve and adjust and grow in that way,” he said. “And so we’ll see what time brings … but right now we’re focused on this season and being the best that we can be.”

As far as Hurts’ off-field standards, he also talks about how his favorite crawfish recipe measures up, and why broccoli does not.
