The Los Angeles Rams were rumored to be heavily involved in the quarterback class of the 2024 NFL Draft but ended up passing on the position this offseason. Instead, the Rams (wisely, in my opinion) opted to roll out with Jimmy Garoppolo and Stetson Bennett backing up Matthew Stafford.
However, given Stafford's looming contract decision, the future of the Rams' signal-caller is more than a little undetermined. This uncertainty has prompted plenty of speculation about the Rams' long-term plans.
ESPN opted to address this in their latest 2025 mock draft. The Rams picked at 19th overall, selecting Texas A&M quarterback Connor Weigman.
"In the leadup to the 2024 draft, sources around the NFL told me often that the Rams were a sneaky team to keep an eye on with the quarterbacks. That didn't ultimately play out, but I'm watching them closely in 2025 with Matthew Stafford now 36 years old. Weigman started just four games for A&M last year before a season-ending foot injury, but he flashed with eight touchdowns through the air and two more on the ground. He is more of a projection at this stage, but the talent is there for him to push into the Round 1 conversation -- and potentially be L.A.'s QB of the future."
Weigman is more than a decent projection, but there is plenty of optimism to have with this pick. Weigman's arm talent pops off the screen, and his lively gunslinger attitude to push the ball is reminiscent of Stafford himself.

Under a new coaching staff, Weigman might have a better chance at proving his ability as long as he stays healthy. Weigman's familiarity with the pistol, a new face of the Rams' offense, will only help ease his transition into the NFL.
