After a spirited "Friday Night Lights" practice the day before, the Pittsburgh Steelers toned things down just a bit for Saturday's practice, as head coach Mike Tomlin chose to keep the pads off for his team's latest session.
The start of practice was delayed due to inclement weather and fans were forced to take shelter because of lightning in the area. However, things eventually cleared up and the Steelers were able to take the field to get the practice in.
As has been the case all week, Russell Wilson was limited again, and that allowed Justin Fields to get even more work in with the first-team offense. The defense got some revenge after getting dominated by the offense on Friday night.
We go over that and more as we take a look at the biggest takeaways from Steelers training camp practice on Saturday based on beat writer observations.
Steelers training camp takeaways
More of the same for Russ
Wilson continues to do limited work at practice. He once again did not take part in the 11-on-11 or seven shots portions of practice but did do work in 7-on-7 (more on that below).
Notable rest days
Steelers getting rest days. Cam Heyward, TJ Watt, Isaac Seumalo. Minkah Fitzpatrick not in team but dressed. Could be something minor that's held him out of full work last couple practices. #Steelers

No concern for Minkah
Asked if Minkah Fitzpatrick is working through an injury after missing time the last three practices, Mike Tomlin says the safety has been doing 7-on-7 and individual drills, but they’re minimizing him to get a look at others. https://t.co/DXsLrJuK7U

Defense gets revenge in seven shots
After the offense dominated seven shots on Friday night, the defense returned the favor on Saturday, winning 5-2. Fields and George Pickens connected on each of the offense's successful attempts.
After being shut out 7-0 in Seven Shots yesterday, the defense gets a measure of redemption. A couple sacks and a pick leads to a 5-2 win.

Fields and Pickens continue to show great chemistry.
Beanie's world
Few players in Steelers camp have stood out like Beanie Bishop has. The UDFA is routinely making plays at practice, and he did so once again with an impressive pick-six off Fields.

Beanie Bishop goes on a corner blitz and jumps a quick pass from Justin Fields for a pick 6. Was an impressive play by the rookie. #Steelers

Not only has Bishop already secured a roster spot, he could very well be a starter in his rookie season.
Troy Fautanu gets first-team reps at RT
Troy Fautanu was getting reps with the first team at right tackle, but jumped on a false start and had to take a lap. Broderick Jones in for him. #Steelers

Russell Wilson: 3/4 with a drop
Justin Fields: 2/2 but one might’ve been too long and a sack.

Van Jefferson comes up with another great leaping catch in the back of the end zone in what’s likely the last team drill. https://t.co/ZMAevEyRHk
