The New England Patriots are able to have 91 players on their roster at this point in the year before they are forced to cut down to 53 around the end of the month.
After opening a roster spot by releasing wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster last week, New England has re-signed running back DeShaun Fenwick, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Fenwick, 24, played for South Carolina and Oregon State in college before New England signed him as an undrafted free agent this year.
The Patriots released him at the beginning of the month.
Now, he'll have an opportunity to compete for a depth roster/practice squad spot going forward alongside JaMycal Hasty, Kevin Harris and Terrell Jennings, who all got work in the team's first preseason game.
