The New England Patriots have paid a lot of their own players this offseason, including some who weren't expected to hit the market until next year.
One of those players was defensive lineman Davon Godchaux, who agreed to a two-year extension at the end of July. We now have the details of the new deal.
According to Over the Cap, Godchaux will receive salaries of $1.65 million (fully guaranteed) in 2024, $4 million (fully guaranteed) in 2025) and $6.5 million in 2026.
His signing bonuses now total $13.5 million - $6.83 million in 2024 and $3.33 million in both 2025 and 2026. He'll also have per-game roster bonuses of $1 million in 2024, $850,000 in 2025 and $1.75 million in 2026 as well as workout bonuses of $150,000 in 2024 and 2025 and $250,000 in 2026.
Godchaux has cap numbers of $9.63 million in 2024, $8.33 million in 2025 and $11.83 million in 2026.
New England could move on from the defensive lineman prior to the start of the 2026 season and save $8.5 million while incurring $3.33 million in dead cap.
