The New England Patriots made it through their first game of the 2024 season without having someone leave due to injury, but they won't be as lucky in the second contest.
Early in their Week 2 battle against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday at Gillette Stadium, Patriots linebacker and captain Ja'Whaun Bentley left the game due to a shoulder injury. The team announced shortly after that he's questionable to return to action.
Bentley, 28, is in his seventh season with New England after they selected him in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL draft out of Purdue. He's ascended to a consistent contributor and leader of the defense.
The Patriots may have some issues in the middle of their defense, as Sione Takitaki is on the reserve/PUP list. Until Bentley returns, they'll have to rely on Jahlani Tavai, Raekwon McMillan and Christian Eliss to man the middle in the second level. Hopefully, this injury isn't too serious, and he'll be back soon.
