During last week's preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots rookie wide receiver JaQuae Jackson had to be carted off of the field due to an injury.
Head coach Jerod Mayo didn't have any updates on his status when he was asked during his media availabilities this week, but New England placed Jackson on injured reserve on Tuesday.
Jackson was signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent earlier this offseason and then signed with New England after he was released in June. He recorded the team's lone receiving touchdown of the preseason.
Landers, 25, played collegiately at Georgia, Toledo and Arkansas before signing with the Seattle Seahawks in 2023. Since then, he's spent time with the Carolina Panthers in the NFL and the Arlington Renegades and San Antonio Brahmas of the UFL. He hasn't played in a game or recorded a stat in either league.
New England doesn't exactly have the most talented receiver room in the league, but they do have a room full of depth options, so it will make it difficult for Landers to make the roster. However, if he impresses over the next week and in their preseason finale against Washington on Sunday, he could set himself up to make the practice squad.
