With just a few days until their final preseason game of 2024, the New England Patriots still have some open roster spots that could be filled before cuts have to be made next week.
With that, the Patriots are hosting defensive end Christian McCarroll for a workout on Tuesday, according to KPRC2's Aaron Wilson.
McCarroll played collegiately at Grand Valley State, famously the alma mater of recently traded Patriots linebacker Matthew Judon.
During his collegiate career, he recorded 151 tackles (31.5 for a loss), 15 quarterback sacks, four passes defensed, three fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles. He was a consensus All-American and GLIAC Defensive Lineman of the Year in 2023.
With Judon traded and Christian Barmore out indefinitely due to blood clots, New England may have lost their two best defensive players, so the front seven could use some help, even if it's just depth.
