The New England Patriots went into their preseason finale against the Washington Commanders at FedEx Field with a plan for their quarterback usage. Jacoby Brissett was going to get a drive or two, and Drake Maye would take them until at least the half.

However, during the first series, Brissett was sacked and landed on his shoulder. He was seen grimacing and grabbing the shoulder on the field and while he was on the sideline. Maye replaced him during the next drive.

While the NBC broadcast reported that Brissett wasn't evaluated when he was taken to the sideline, the Patriots announced that the veteran quarterback is dealing with a shoulder injury and is questionable to return.

Obviously, with this being a preseason game, Brissett won't be back in. Hopefully, it's not so bad that he couldn't go if this were a regular-season game.
