The New England Patriots defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 16-10 on Sunday afternoon at Paycor Stadium with the help of an incredible showing from their defense.
However, New England almost had to play without safety and team captain Jabrill Peppers, as Peppers popped up late on the injury report with a hip injury.
After the victory, Peppers spoke with MassLive's Chris Mason and explained how rough his last few days were.
According to Mason, Peppers said he could barely walk on Saturday after suffering the injury on Friday and getting just two hours of sleep. There was apparently no pool at the team hotel, so Peppers had to work out the hip at a local Holiday Inn.
Peppers worked out on the field pregame, and he ended up recording six total tackles (tied for the second-most on the team with Kyle Dugger behind just Ja'Whaun Bentley).
If Peppers hadn't played, New England would've had to turn to Dell Pettus and Jaylinn Hawkins in the secondary. Luckily, they were able to play both starters, which helped the great performance on that side of the ball.
