After playing just one drive in the New England Patriots' first preseason game against the Carolina Panthers, rookie quarterback Drake Maye got an extended look in the second game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Maye entered the game at the start of the second quarter, replacing expected starter Jacoby Brissett, who played the entire first quarter. The first-round completed six of his 11 attempts for just 47 yards. He led the team on two scoring drives, allowing Joey Slye to make a 51-yard field goal and scoring himself on a four-yard rush in the second quarter.
While Maye didn't hit any big passes in this one, the former Tar Heel's best throw of the night was a deep shot to fellow rookie Javon Baker. Maye placed the ball where only his receiver could catch it, but the fourth-round pick couldn't come down with the pass and it bounced incomplete.
I am SO disappointed Javon Baker didn't come down with this. What a gorgeous throw by Drake Maye pic.twitter.com/LTQw0sGRfO

Maye was eventually replaced in the fourth quarter by sixth-round pick Joe Milton III.
