The New England Patriots made a number of roster moves on Friday, including the earlier release of running back DeShaun Fenwick and the signing of offensive tackle Kellen Diesch.
On top of that, the Patriots announced that they've also released offensive tackle Tyrone Wheatley Jr. and signed defensive back A.J. Thomas.
Thomas, 24, played collegiately at Western Michigan before going undrafted in 2022. He spent his first two seasons with the Chicago Bears and played for the UFL's Birmingham Stallions this past season, earning All-UFL honors. He's made four career tackles in his six games played in the NFL.
Wheatley, 27, played at Michigan and Stony Brook before going undrafted in 2020. He bounced around with the Bears, Las Vegas Raiders and Cleveland Browns in his first three years before Cleveland traded him to the Patriots for running back Pierre Strong. He appeared in just two games for New England in his lone season with the team.
