New York Jets' quarterback Aaron Rodgers experienced a steady dose of defensive pressure while facing the Denver Broncos in Week 4, and he's slightly banged up as a result.
Rodgers took five sacks in the 10-9 loss, including a hit on the first play from scrimmage. With about 5:00 remaining in the fourth quarter, Rodgers was taken down on a 3rd-and-2 play and was slow to get up afterwards. He walked gingerly off to the sideline and medical personnel gave attention to his left leg.
Despite the discomfort, Rodgers did not miss a snap. He returned for New York's next possession, which also ended in a sack.
"I don't think so from everything that I've gathered, it's just a standard wear and tear of getting beat up a little bit yesterday," said head coach Robert Saleh on Monday when asked if Rodgers is expected to show up on the injury report this week.
After the game, Rodgers reported some soreness and mentioned his intention to use the hot tub.
"I’m banged up a little bit, but I’m OK," said Rodgers. "I’ve got some stuff with both legs, so I’ll get in the hot tub here in a little bit."
In the touchdown-less effort, the 40-year-old Rodgers accounted for his lowest completion percentage and quarterback rating in four games this season. He showed some mobility by rushing five times for 26 yards, including a 14-yard run, but it appeared difficult for him to escape pressure at times.
Opponents have sacked Rodgers a total of 10 times this season. The Jets' 7.35 percent "sacks allowed rate" ranks 15th amongst NFL offenses.
