The New York Giants have shown to have more fight in them than the previous season's squad, which means they can't be totally counted out.
Though a playoff run is still unlikely to happen for the G-Men, they came away with a big upset win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 5.
Standing with a 2-3 record ahead of the Week 6 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Giants are probably looking to keep as many depth pieces as they can ahead of the trade deadline.
If a team calls with the right price, though, general manager Joe Schoen has to listen. In naming a potential trade target for the Baltimore Ravens, Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report believes Darius Slayton is on that list.
"The Ravens' passing game is heavily reliant on Zay Flowers, Justice Hill and Isaiah Likely at this point. Baltimore has one of the most unique situations thanks to Lamar Jackson, so they don't have to have the same kind of wide receiver depth that other teams have," Ballentine wrote.
"That being said, it would be good for the Ravens to add one more dynamic weapon in the passing game. Darius Slayton is an underrated burner whose deep speed would give the Ravens a dangerous option in their vertical play-action game."
What the Giants would get back in this hypothetical trade wasn't made clear. Considering Slayton is set to be a free agent in 2024, they probably wouldn't get more than a Day 3 pick.
Slayton showed out during the absence of Malik Nabers in Week 5 as the rookie was inactive due to a concussion he suffered the game prior. He had eight receptions for 122 yards and a touchdown in the upset win.
Having Slayton start as the other boundary receiver makes it difficult to trade him given their lack of trust in Jalin Hyatt.
But if the right price is offered, Schoen might need to listen.
