Malik Nabers injury update: Giants star rookie could play in preseason image

New York Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers will return to practice Thursday as he works his way back from an ankle injury.

The star rookie missed the last three practices after rolling his ankle during Sunday's session, but it appears he's just about ready to return.

Head coach Brian Daboll told reporters Nabers has a chance to play against the Houston Texans in the second preseason game Saturday afternoon.

The Giants made sure to be cautious with their prized wide receiver so it wouldn't be a surprise if they hold him out of Saturday's game.

With that said, it's important that Nabers and quarterback Daniel Jones get enough work in ahead of the season to establish a connection. Jones is expected to make his preseason debut Saturday.

Nabers himself told reporters he has "no doubt" he will be ready for Week 1 so it will be interesting to see what kind of workload they give him if he does play in the preseason.

Either way, this is a fantastic update as the star rookie seemingly avoided a major injury.
