One of the scarier headlines New Orleans Saints fans have seen in a while popped up last weekend when tight end Taysom Hill was transported to a local hospital after suffering a chest injury.
Early this week, though, Saints coach Dennis Allen told reporters that Hill had been discharged and appeared to avoid a major issue, though didn’t specify the injury or testing required.
"He's doing good. He feels good. I don't know if we've gotten all the results back on him. He went and got some more imaging today. I think we avoided anything real serious," Allen said, according to ESPN’s Katherine Terrell.
As such, Hill simply joins the standard injury report as a name to watch all week.
Hill exited his team’s blowout win over the Dallas Cowboys with the injury. Prior to that, he had three carries for 18 yards with one catch. Over the course of two games so far, he’s carried the ball eight times for 53 yards while technically being listed as a tight end on the depth chart these days.
As Terrell noted, Hill missed one game in 2022 with a rib injury, then played through it, while last season, he played through what the team described as a chest injury while questionable on the injury report.
Given his importance as a blocker and otherwise, the Saints will have to hope Hill can do something similar before they host the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3.
