On Sunday night, the New England Patriots announced that defensive lineman Christian Barmore was diagnosed with blood clots and that there was no timetable for his return.
Beyond Barmore thanking fans for their support on social media later Sunday night, there hadn't been much more information about the situation.
However, Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo began his Monday morning media availability before training camp by discussing Barmore's health.
"I just want to thank the medical professionals in-house and also Mass General as far as the care for Barmore," "Obviously, it's an unfortunate thing. For me, it's not even about football. We talk about things like that. It's about the man. He's getting tremendous care, and I'm anticipating him coming back."
Mayo also reiterated that there's no timetable for his return at this moment and, because of that, there's no knowing if he'll end up on injured reserve or not.
The coach thanked the Patriots' medical team and gave them props for finding the issue promptly, although he did say that he wasn't sure of the timeline of events.
"I had a conversation with him. He's in good spirits, and like I said before, he's getting tremendous care," Mayo said. "His mom's up here too, so any time mom's in the house, it's a good day."
Mayo clarified that Barmore is not staying in the hospital at the moment.
