The New England Patriots battled the New York Jets on Thursday night at MetLife Stadium, and Jerod Mayo's team was handed a 24-3 loss, their second loss in as many games.
New England didn't do much well in this game, as the offense was putrid, and the defense was diced up by Aaron Rodgers and company. It's tough to say anybody stood out positively for the Patriots, so by default, the Player of the Game is punter Bryce Baringer.
The 25-year-old punted five times, averaging 49 yards per boot. The longest of the five went for 57 yards and three of them were downed inside New York's 20-yard-line
New England hasn't exactly had the best special teams units in recent years, so it's refreshing to see Baringer flip fields with regularity and Joey Slye make field goals. They'll both need to keep that up because the offense isn't going to do a whole lot throughout the season.
