The Minnesota Vikings signed tight end Robert Tonyan on Thursday afternoon. In turn, they waived rookie linebacker Donovan Manuel.

Waiving a linebacker to sign Tonyan is interesting considering the poor depth at the position. They have Ivan Pace Jr. and Blake Cashman. After that, it's a lot of uncertainty at the position. Brian Asamoah II and Kamu Grugier-Hill are major question marks.

Manuel was an undrafted free agent from Florida International who was initially thought to have an outside shot to make the team with the linebacker position. However, being the first undrafted free agent waived after rookie minicamp shows that it wasn't the case.
