The Minnesota Vikings have signed a player who tried out during rookie minicamp. The team announced they have signed tight end Sammis Reyes to a contract via the International Pathway Program.

Reyes is a native of Talcahuano, Chile and returns to the NFL after spending the offseason with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 28 year old tight end broke into the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Washington Commanders in 2021, having played in 11 games with one start. In doing so, he was the first ever player from Chile to appear in an NFL game.

He spent the 2022 season on the Chicago Bears practice squad before heading to the Jaguars. He wasn't with a team during the 2023 season.

He was a basketball player in college at Hawaii, Tulane and Loyola University in Louisiana with a stop at junior college mixed in. That basketball background is one that translates well to the NFL game at tight end. Reyes will not count toward the 90-man roster and will be given the time to properly develop.
