The Minnesota Vikings officially announced the number of first-round pick J.J. McCarthy. He will wear the number nine in the 2024 season.
McCarthy had initially announced his intention to wear number nine this season during an appearance on Paul Allen's radio show. The number was worn by Trishton Jackson last season.
It was also worn by multiple other Vikings quarterbacks, most notably Tommy Kramer and Jim McMahon. They gave McCarthy his blessing to wear the number, which is cool especially when you consider Kramer and McCarthy are two of the five quarterbacks the Vikings have selected in the first round in franchise history.
