The Minnesota Vikings made seven selections in the 2024 NFL Draft with the highlight of the class being Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy. They had to trade up slightly to select him going from 11th overall to 10th overall but that move could be the saving grace for the franchise moving forward.
McCarthy isn't likely to be the starting quarterback in week one of the 2024 NFL season but that's not the end of the world. With the situation the Vikings have, they can allow him to grow and develop at his own pace.
One of the biggest questions about McCarthy was what jersey number he would wear. There aren't a lot of options between 0-19 for him to choose from, but he announced on KFAN with Paul Allen that he would be wearing the number nine, which was his college number.
That number also belonged to former Vikings quarterback Tommy Kramer who gave his blessing to McCarthy over the weekend.
Looks like Vikings fans will be able to buy their number nine jerseys sooner rather than later.Even though @JimMcMahon only wore my number for one year, I just talked to him and we are more than happy to pass #9 onto @jjmccarthy09.

The future looks bright Viking fans.
