The Minnesota Vikings have an excellent group of pass catchers. Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and T.J. Hockenson are as good as any other trio in the National Football League.
Outside of that, the Vikings are rather thin in the pass catcher department. Tight end has some unique pieces but nobody truly stands out. Wide receiver is in the same boat but the lack of good developmental options is an issue the team should address this offseason.
One player who could step up and be a standout option is one that had a career year in 2023 with the Vikings in Brandon Powell. CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin believes he could be an under-the-radar star this upcoming season.
As long as Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison are on the field, Minnesota's offense goes through them. But Powell is a shifty multipurpose option set for new opportunities with K.J. Osborn gone and T.J. Hockenson recovering from injury. He's also a proven return specialist.
Powell did step up in a major way when Jefferson was out with injury, including a touchdown catch against the Atlanta Falcons to cap off an impressive victory with Josh Dobbs.

Powell will have some steep competition for the WR3 spot in Jalen Nailor, Trent Sherfield and Trishton Jackson. He is the favorite to win the job but his size could be limiting the Vikings in how multiple they like to be out of 11 personnel.
