Tyler Huntley is effectively the last bastion of hope for the Miami Dolphins with Tua Tagovailoa sidelined.
It’s a testament to how random the NFL can be and how quickly things can change, considering Huntley has been on the team for roughly a week or so.
And yet, that limited time in town doesn’t have Huntley sounding like a guy struggling to pick up the new offense.
“It’s like riding a bike – first time, you’re a little iffy, you didn’t know how to pedal,” Huntley said this week. “Then you just start putting it all together, pedaling, going in a straight line, then after a while, you’re going to start standing up.”
It sounds good and really, what else is Huntley supposed to say? But it’s fair to wonder how quickly the offense can perform at a high level, especially with questions already circling around Mike McDaniels’ fate as a play-caller.
Undrafted in 2020, Huntley has found success in other stops, including that semi-infamous Pro Bowl nod in 2022 with Baltimore. The Dolphins plucked him off the Ravens’ practice squad recently with Skylar Thompson now battling a rib injury.
For the 1-2 Dolphins, the hope has to be that Huntley has the bike going just fine before Monday night’s primetime game against the Tennessee Titans.
