These two Chargers players can't be left off 53-man roster following win over Dallas

The Los Angeles Chargers have concluded the preseason and now have a quick turnaround before having to narrow their roster down to 53 players ahead of Tuesday's deadline.

In a win over the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday, quarterback Easton Stick did not do much to bolster his chances of making the squad but two other players all but locked their spots in. It would be hard to envision the team letting either of these players go, even if they weren't in the initial plans.

Simi Fehoko, WR

The Chargers drafted two wide receivers in the seventh round, Brenden Rice and Cornelius Johnson, who both seemed to offer much better value than their draft status. The thought was that the two of them would be playing for the last wide receiver spot or perhaps the team could even consider keeping them both.

Instead, Simi Fehoko has been tremendous in the preseason and he capped that off with this 78-yard touchdown reception against Dallas that should lock him into a spot, especially when you toss in his special teams value.

This offseason, the Chargers signed veteran D.J. Chark before drafting three wide receivers. Fehoko had a next-to-nothing chance of making the team, but it appears he's done it.

Tony Jefferson, S

There should be no way you get rid of this guy after the way he played against Dallas. Tony Jefferson, who retired after the 2022 season and is now 32 years old, decided to make a comeback this year. He joined a roster that had Derwin James, Alohi Gilman, JT Woods and then saw undrafted free agent Thomas Harper start to flash.

On Saturday against Dallas, Jefferson played like a guy who knew he needed to make something happen. He finished the game with a team-leading 14 tackles, two interceptions and a sack. That is the kind of effort you want to see when it is all on the line.

Jefferson made a huge statement in this game.
