The Los Angeles Chargers are giving a tryout to a retired safety at their upcoming minicamp. Tony Jefferson, who played for 10 seasons with four different teams and retired last May, is attempting a comeback. Though more than one team is said to be interested, the Chargers will get the first look at him.
Jefferson is best remembered for his time with the Baltimore Ravens and spent time there with current Chargers GM Joe Hortiz.

Jefferson went undrafted out of Oklahoma in 2013 and spent his first four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. He had two stints with the Ravens and also played for the San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants. He has nearly 500 career tackles, 9.5 sacks and four interceptions.

New Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh has looked at a lot of former Ravens this offseason, as the team has also signed Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins. In addition to Hortiz spending 25 years there in the scouting and player personnel departments, Harbaugh's brother, John, is also the team's head coach.
The Chargers have Derwin James at the safety spot but could potentially use a guy like Jefferson, who could play an enforcer role on defense. He recently turned 32 years old, but the Chargers, who will hold another minicamp June 4-7, will see what he may still have left in the tank.
