The Los Angeles Chargers will have their first battle with the Kansas City Chiefs in the Jim Harbaugh era, but unfortunately, they will be a bit shorthanded for the contest. The team's final injury report released on Friday reveals that a few players are out and several others are listed as questionable.
This was a big possibility coming out of the Week 3 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Chargers will just have to stay above water until their bye week and perhaps for a bit after. This is how their injury report looks heading into Sunday.
Player | Position | Injury | Game Status |
Joey Bosa | OLB | Hip | Out |
Junior Colson | ILB | Hamstring | Out |
Rashawn Slater | OT | Pectoral | Out |
Justin Herbert | QB | Ankle | Questionable |
Derius Davis | WR | Hamstring | Questionable |
Kristian Fulton | CB | Knee | Questionable |
Joe Alt | OT | Knee | Questionable |
Deane Leonard | CB | Hamstring | Questionable |
Ja'Sir Taylor | CB | Fibula | Questionable |
Joey Bosa, Junior Colson and Rashawn Slater will all be out for the game. Surprisingly, Joe Alt gets a questionable tag because he is not expected to play in this game and in fact, probably had a worse chance of suiting up than Slater did.
The focus, just like it was last week, will be on Justin Herbert's status. Like last week, Herbert probably wants to give it a go but there is more than one reason why he shouldn't.
Without Herbert, the Chargers would turn to Taylor Heinicke, who came on in relief last week against Pittsburgh.
Sounds like the Chargers are preparing to be without both Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt on Sunday against a Steve Spagnuolo defense that ranks fourth in blitz rate. Putting Justin Herbert on the field at less than 100% would be malpractice. https://t.co/mGzrjt3AvP

Though Kristian Fulton, Ja'Sir Taylor and Deane Leonard will likely all be available for this game, the Chargers secondary is badly banged up, and the team has a rough pile of injuries for this stage in the season.
It's the worst time for a team like the Kansas City Chiefs to be coming into SoFi Stadium. The Chargers aren't going to roll over and give this game away, but finding a win is going to be difficult with all of these key injuries.
