Chargers send Joey Bosa to Bay Area in wild but unlikely trade scenario

The Los Angeles Chargers had some tough decisions to make this offseason. The team chose to hold onto edge rushers Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack while allowing Austin Ekeler and Mike Williams to sign with new teams in free agency. They then traded Keenan Allen.

But could Joey Bosa being traded still be an option for the team? The Chargers do have options behind him that make it a realistic idea.

But when trades happen in the NFL, it's unlikely for two teams to swap superstars. But that didn't stop Alex Kay of Bleacher Report from putting together a list of trade packages involving San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

Those trades involving multiple stars trading jerseys are uncommon, drumming up scenarios such as these provides for some fun speculation. And this proposed trade would sure be fun.

In addition to Bosa, the 49ers also get a 2025 second-round pick from the Chargers. With all due respect to the talented Aiyuk, this seems like way too much to give up.

On the other side of the coin, there has been plenty of talk about the Chargers needing a true No. 1 wide receiver to replace Allen. That is why the team continues to be connected to another fairly disgruntled wide receiver, Tee Higgins of the Cincinnati Bengals.

In the case of Aiyuk, he is not attending minicamp for the 49ers and wants a huge deal, perhaps one that pays him more than the deal Amon-Ra St. Brown just received from the Detroit Lions. If that is the case, the 49ers may have to deal him.

Though Aiyuk would provide the Chargers' passing game with a big boost, Bosa still can be one of the game's elite pass-rushers when healthy. This just does not seem like a deal that Jim Harbaugh and Joe Hortiz would green light.

The idea of the 49ers having both Bosa brothers attacking quarterbacks for years to come is fun, but more likely meant for a game of Madden than the real field.
