The Jacksonville Jaguars have been ravaged by injuries and poor play on defense this season, and the latter continued in Sunday’s Week 6 game against the Chicago Bears in London.
The Jags allowed rookie quarterback Caleb Williams to pass for a career-high four touchdowns. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft also had his most rushing yards of the season with 56.
Williams was sacked three times, but the rookie was in full command throughout as the Bears built a 35-10 lead with 12:29 remaining in the fourth quarter.
A group of key Jaguars defenders finished the game with this troubling stat, per ESPN’s Michael DiRocco:
Jaguars defenders who had same number of tackles today as Trevor Lawrence (1): DE Josh Hines-Allen, DE Travon Walker, DL Arik Armstead, DT Maason Smith, DL Roy Robertson-Harris, DT Jordan Jefferson. Smith & Robertson-Harris had a sack. Hines-Allen & DL Esezi Otomewo split a sack.

Trevor Lawrence recorded a tackle on Jacksonville’s first play of the second half. He completed a pass to tight end Evan Engram, who failed to secure the ball as he went to the ground.
Chicago’s Elijah Hicks scooped up the loose football and was off to the races before Jacksonville’s quarterback made one of the team’s most impressive open-field tackles of the day:
A COSTLY turnover from Evan Engram 😬

It’s been that kind of season for the Jaguars in 2024.
