NFL power rankings Week 6: Indianapolis Colts fall after another Duval loss image

The Indianapolis Colts (2-2) could not get out of their own way as their doom in Duval continued on Sunday.

Despite a triumphant comeback late in the fourth quarter, the Colts wound up falling 37-34 against the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-4), giving their division-mates their first win of the season.

The Colts allowed a struggling Jaguars offense to record 8.7 yards per play, by far the most among any defense in Week 5. They also recorded just two quarterback pressures and 5.61 yards after contact per attempt in the run game.

After now falling to 2-3 on the season with a loss against a winless team, it's reflected in the power rankings entering Week 6.

After falling short on the road against a winless team, it's no surprise the Colts dropped in the power rankings entering Week 6, according to Vinnie Iyer of Sporting News.

25. Indianapolis Colts 2-3 (21)

"The Colts' running game missed Jonathan Taylor (ankle), but their passing game got a big-time boost with Joe Flacco letting it rip in place of Anthony Richardson (oblique). The defensive inconsistency can cost them regardless of who's at QB.," Iyer wrote.

While Flacco did his best to will the Colts to a late-game comeback by erasing a 14-point deficit with less than five minutes remaining, the defense continues to be a massive problem.

Gus Bradley's defense surrendered 497 total yards and 8.7 yards per play. This came against a Jaguars offense that hadn't recorded more than 323 yards in a game this season and one that was averaging 4.9 yards per play entering this game.

The injuries are a relevant excuse to an extent. The blown coverages and constant missed tackles to go along with zero pressure were the biggest issues on Sunday.

The Colts will have to turn around on the road again to visit the Tennessee Titans (1-3) in Nashville as they come off the bye week.
